Workshops
We offer workshops in motivational interviewing at every level (beginning, advanced and supervision & training). These workshops are scheduled about once or twice per year, and usually occur in Albuquerque or Santa Fe. These workshops often fill very quickly.
Upcoming Workshops
Our next workshop will be an Advanced Motivational Interviewing Training with William Miller & Theresa Moyers in Albuquerque on Nov 14-16, 2022. Click here to learn more about the training.

On-Site Training
Do you want to offer training in motivational interviewing at your site? Do you want to save the expense of sending practitioners away for training? Dr. Moyers has a limited number of openings for travel, allowing her to offer top quality training at your site. This is typically (but not always) done with a two-day workshop and virtual follow-up consultations and feedback for learners after training. Plans are tailored to the type of setting and practioners.
Individual Coaching and Feedback
Dr. Moyers will consult with you about your current training needs, then negotiate a plan that might include review of audio samples from your work setting (or with one of our standardized patients), telephone conversations about your work samples, or consultation and practice with specific skills. All of these methods for enriching clinical practice are taken directly from clinical trials in training motivational interviewing.
Consultation for MI Research Projects
Are you a researcher with a large MI treatment project? Do you struggle with implementing integrity in an MI intervention across several sites, across populations or with many different interviewers? Dr. Moyers can provide consultation for improving credibility for the MI treatment you offer, as well as increasing the opportunities for disseminating your data to others in publications and conferences.
Learning Communities
Dr. Miller and Dr. Moyers are currently recruiting a group of volunteers for a pilot project involving a virtual learning community for learning basic MI skills.
Requirements for participating in this project include:
- The ability to participate in a 90 minute online meeting once per week for 6 weeks.
- The willingness to have their work reviewed by a group of like-minded and gentle co-learners.
- A hard-wired Internet connection for weekly meetings (wireless connections will not work)
